Ancestral Medicine
In just two short months, just before Samhain, the Illuminating the Wheel of the Year course begins and we will be jumping into the deep end with the Celtic New Year and honoring those who came before.
We are all aware that we are the product of a line of men and women reaching back and back into time, our Ancestors. Who were they? How do we honor them? Should we honor them?
It is easy to romanticize those who came before us. They are after all, dead and gone and they may have lived hard lives filled with trauma, drama, and struggle. Most of us do. However not all ancestors were good people. Certainly I know that some of mine were pretty rotten.
So when we work with our Ancestors, we want to connect with the healthy, able minded among them and we want to do this with intention. If I’m honest, and I do try to be, I think my Mom—who has been dead for 5 years—is pissed off at me because I specifically call in only my beneficial, healthy, healed Ancestors when I work with them…and she might not be one of them. I love her, loved her, honor her and know that she did her best and that she hasn’t changed since she crossed over. That means that she might not be able to show up when I put this call out. And that’s okay. The work I do will help her, too, and I hope she’s able to receive the blessings with an open heart.
We want to be deeply intentional and attentive to who we invite into our Spiritual space, and that includes our blood lineage.
And here is part of where we will go beginning in October, 2020, into our Ancestral line to help heal backward and forward, for our selves, the next generation, and those who came before.
It is good work.
