Spiral Dance, 7 Veils
Imagine, if you will, women circled around a fire in the early darkness that falls just beyond dusk.
They are chanting, toning, drumming, moving. Each one wearing a dress or skirt, flowing, her vulva open to the earth energies rising into her, through her root, and up her djed (central nerve channel), flooding her with grounding, enlivening, pure energy.
They are lit on one side by the fire. They are shadowed away from the fire.
The drumming ends. The women circle, holding hands, facing the fire…as one they place their hands on their bellies as if untying a scarf, then release the etheric veil they’ve had there, hiding their connection, keeping them from connecting, to the earth… to their tribe… to their families (of choice or of birth)… to their own ability to stand firm and to withstand challenges…They remove the etheric veil and cast it into the fire.
Their hips begin to sway as they are released from this bondage.
And then, they move up, energy center by energy center, releasing each of the 7 veils that cover and hide their brilliance.
At the end, one woman releases herself from the circle and slowly, intentionally dances a circuit around the outside of the circle of women facing the fire. After one circuit, she takes the hand of another woman, and she, too, moves out, dancing another circuit.
In the end, one woman holds the ground at the center while the rest circle and spiral and then, slowly, move into the darkness, toward their rest. Toward integration. Toward resting into their wholeness.
